Pala Casino is a full service casino hotel located in North San Diego County. Large, busy casino with a great Video Poker Bar (The Promenade), 2700+ slots and 87 table games. Casino has a warm, busy feeling about it. Good variety of slots and table games, including some that you wont' find elsewhere in San Diego---like a version of 4-Card Poker called CRAZY 4 POKER. Nice, well-run hotel with pleasant rooms, a full service spa, pool and outside bar. A nice touch is the large, adults only jacuzzi with a waterfall. If you join the Players Club, you will get discounts for weeknight stays. VIDEO POKER: Fun video poker actually they have two but my favorite is THE PROMENADE, where you can play Full Pay Jacks or Better Video Poker for $1 and enjoy free entertainment on the bar stage. Some of the bands are pretty good -- could be jazz, country, oldies or pop. This is a popular bar and you may have to wait for a seat in the evenings. ENTERTAINMENT: Pala’s concerts and shows are among the best offered in San Diego. You’ll find headliner concerts and boxing at the Pala Events Center and star entertainment in Pala’s outdoor Palomar Starlight Theater. The Grand Cabaret changes from a 525 seat lounge to a 1,000 seat stadium style theatre and the Promenade Bar and Lounge is a great way to enjoy the day or evening with live entertainment , a full service bar and video poker. TABLE GAMES: Reasonable table minimum (usually $5 or $10) for popular games like CRAZY 4 POKER, Let it Ride, Three Card Poker, and Ultimate Texas Holdem. Plenty of Blackjack and PaiGow tables and they get a lot of action. From time to time, they introduce new table games and keep them if they work out. I like that they are willing to try new table games with huge bonus payoffs, albeit with a large house edge. Pala also has a large Multi-Seat Machine Roulette game--- in addition to live Roulette (which is played California style with a wheel and cards)---where you can bet Quarter increments although I think the minimum bet is $1. TOURNAMENTS: After playing in Pala’s Video Poker Tournament recently, I’m checking the mail each day for more free Tournament invitations! Pala rolled out the Red Carpet for the tourney players with two free nights at the Hotel, a Super Generous Prize structure with $10,000 for 1st Place, capped off with a delicious dinner and live entertainment/dancing. Another reason to play at Pala and use your Player's Club Card. Buffet is just mediocre at best... I would definitely skip it and go to the Coffee Shop or get a corned beef sandwich from The Deli, but that's probably just me. |
